Maharashtra clears ₹1,722-crore Bandra Fort connector to ease access to the Savarkar Sea Link

Maharashtra's Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on June 25 approved a 3.55-km connector linking the Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sea Link to Bandra Fort at a cost of ₹1,722.40 crore. To be built by the MSRDC, the elevated link is expected to cut the approach drive from the current 20–45 minutes to roughly 10. The same meeting cleared a 1.40-km Nagpur Metro Phase-2 extension.

The connector is the newest piece of Mumbai's growing coastal mobility grid, which already spans the Bandra–Worli Sea Link, the Coastal Road and, to the south-east, the Atal Setu. Easing the Bandra-end interchange targets the choke points where the sea links spill onto the city's congested arterial roads.

Travel-time gains along this stretch feed directly into housing demand in Bandra, Worli and the western suburbs, where connectivity premiums are already steep. Ready-reckoner revisions in recent years have leaned hardest on localities near completed sea-link, coastal-road and metro projects.

As with most such approvals, the payoff hinges on delivery; for now it signals continued state spending on the western waterfront that underpins some of MMR's costliest addresses.
