Maharashtra signs $1.2-billion MoU to build a 250-acre 'MediCity' beside the Navi Mumbai airport

The Maharashtra government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Cleveland Clinic, Brookfield Asset Management and Arodhan Health City to develop the Navi Mumbai International MediCity, a roughly 250-acre integrated healthcare campus next to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. The project is expected to draw about $1.2 billion in investment and generate more than 10,000 direct jobs, with Cleveland Clinic as the anchor institution.

Announced earlier this month with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis joining by video, the campus is planned to house hospitals, medical and nursing colleges, clinical research centres, biotech and life-sciences facilities and wellness services. The state has committed to providing institutional support and clearances, and the partners have framed it as one of India's largest planned healthcare ecosystems.

For the Navi Mumbai property corridor, a large institutional anchor beside the new airport adds to a thickening cluster of demand drivers — the airport itself, Atal Setu and the NAINA growth area. Employment hubs of this scale tend, over time, to support housing and commercial absorption in nodes such as Ulwe, Kharghar and Panvel.

The agreement is at the MoU stage, and timelines for construction and operation have not been detailed. Its eventual effect on land and home values will hinge on execution and on how fast the surrounding transport links come online.
