BMC clears PMC for ₹3,304-crore Dahisar–Bhayander elevated link, extending the coastal road north

The civic body's nod for a project consultant advances a 5.6-km elevated road meant to knit Mira-Bhayander into Mumbai's western spine — even as the funding split draws fire.
Finclara Dispatch · 20 June 2026

Mumbai's municipal Standing Committee has approved the appointment of a project management consultant for the ₹3,304-crore Dahisar–Bhayander Link Road (DBLR), clearing a procedural step for one of the final pieces of the Coastal Road (North) corridor. A joint venture of Nippon Koei India and Kite Allied Services has been recommended to oversee execution and quality control at a fee of about ₹52.5 crore across a 42-month build.

The 5.6-km, 45-metre-wide elevated road will run from Dahisar (West) to Bhayander (West), giving the Mira-Bhayander belt a signal-free connection toward the southbound coastal road while easing load on the chronically congested Western Express Highway. Officials estimate it could trim the Versova–Bhayander journey by roughly 30 to 45 minutes.

The approval did not pass without friction. Opposition corporators questioned why Mumbai's taxpayers should fully fund a road that largely serves Mira-Bhayander, a separate municipal jurisdiction — a dispute over cost-sharing that could shape how, and how quickly, the project advances.

For the property map, the link matters most to Mira Road and Bhayander, where buyers have long accepted a longer commute in exchange for lower prices. A faster route into Mumbai's coastal spine strengthens that trade-off and could draw fresh interest to the corridor's mid-market launches. As with any infrastructure promise, though, it is the delivery timeline — not the announcement — that will decide how much it moves the needle.
