Noida's Jewar airport goes live and starts adding routes, igniting a Yamuna Expressway land rush

The Delhi-NCR mega-airport began commercial flights in mid-June and is scaling toward 16 cities, with state plot schemes feeding the demand.
Finclara Dispatch · 8 July 2026

Noida International Airport at Jewar began commercial operations in mid-June and is quickly widening its map, adding city pairs through late June and into July with carriers including IndiGo, Akasa Air and Air India Express. Its first phase carries a single runway and terminal built for around 12 million passengers a year, billed as relief for Delhi's congested IGI airport.

The opening is reshaping land values along the Yamuna Expressway. The Yamuna authority, YEIDA, has been clearing residential plot schemes near the airport — its latest, a 973-plot draw, was conducted in mid-June at an indicative ₹35,000 a square metre — as buyers and investors position around the new aviation hub.

The pattern echoes what readers are watching in Navi Mumbai, where a new international airport is redrawing the property map around it. A greenfield airport tends to pull warehousing, offices and housing into its catchment over years, and Jewar is now past the symbolic milestone of live flights.

Airport-led land stories also carry a familiar caution: prices often run ahead of the actual ramp-up in flights, jobs and end-use. The connectivity is real and now operational; how fast it converts into occupied homes and working space is the longer test.
